Hayden and Tanner's story ~
 

Hayden is 12 and Tanner is 10.

They both have an polygenic type of mitochondrial disease (several mutations causing their mitochondrial disease, not just one specific one) that affects mainly their GI, eyes, muscles, lungs, and autonomic system. 

 

They started having issues fairly early on in life. 

We have been all across the country to - Cleveland Clinic, Tufts at Boston, Atlanta, Children's Hospital Orange County, Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Stanford and Cincinatti Childrens. All to find them the best of the best doctors. 

 

The boys have had numerous surgeries and countless hospitalizations. 

 

Hayden loves The Beatles, playing guitar, drawing, Lego, exotic cars and playing with his friends at school. Hayden is an amazingly brilliant kid who is a very loving and positive individual despite all he endures. He has a heart for others who are differently abled as well.  

 

Tanner loves Legos, riding his bike, reading, and keeping us on our toes with his whitty conversations. Tanner is doing so awesome in school despite missing so many days due to hospital stays and not feeling well.  

He had lots of friends there at school and remains positive despite all he goes thru! 

 

Even tho no one currently is giving us any hope of finding a cure, we know that we have to press on for our children affected by mito.
